Officer Award


On January 16, 2019, a New Boston resident reported their car had been stolen from their residence. Later that morning while on patrol, Officer Carmichael seen a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle on the Mall parking lot within the 4500 block of Gallia Street. Officer Carmichael made contact with the vehicle and was able to arrest two suspects found in the vehicle. Both suspects were charged with Receiving Stolen Property, a felony in the fourth degree. The owner of the car was able to get the car back without any damage. Since September 2018 to January 16th, 2019, Officer Carmichael has recovered three reported stolen vehicles found in New Boston. The first was on 09/25/18, Officer Carmichael found a stolen car on the Walmart parking lot that had been reported stolen by the Scioto County Sheriff's Office and Officer Carmichael was able to stop the car and arrest the suspect. Then on November 13, 2018, Officer Carmichael came across a car reported stolen out of Columbus Ohio where it was a car-jacking incident taken from the victim. Officer Carmichael was able to stop the vehicle and arrest two suspects from the Columbus Ohio area. We congratulate Officer Carmichael for his outstanding work and dedication to protecting and serving citizens of our community. Officer Carmichael has been presented with the Meritorious Conduct Ribbon.
